Picking the Old Folks Home for the Old Folks

You know the old saying, "be kind to your children - they will be picking your nursing home". Here Leora and I are touring the fitness room at an assisted living facility for my parents, Russellville Park at 102nd and Burnside. Like the other places we've seen so far, it seemed very nice. To my surprise, I haven't found the thought of living in a place like this to be negative - at a certain stage this would feel like a solution, even a step up. They are communal, cooking is taken care of, people seem busy and active. If the people around me were my age peers it might be quite the congenial life. But finding the right one for my parents is hard. All I can do is show them their options.
