An Old Train Depot    |    Posted: September 07, 2006

View all Northwest Industrial.

A security guard informed me that this was previously a NW Natural Gas administrative building, and prior to that a train depot. Note the clock tower on top. The guard said that the structure is contaminated with asbestos.

I like the way it is so redolent of another era, the era of trains. But as the oil runs out, the era of trains may return.

Today the building is located "in the middle of nowhere", surrounded by tank farms. Click here to see this building from space on Google Maps. The St. Johns Bridge is visible in the background in the lower photo.

"The train don't run by here anymore..."
